All Work and No Play
We live in a serious world. It matters how we invest our resources, particularly the unique gift of time. As we go through life, many of us take ourselves a little less seriously, and everyone surrounding us and the world in which we live more seriously. We discover that we can have an impact – for better or for worse – and a natural imperative is to always prefer good.
If you are reading these lines, then, like me, your professional life is probably connected to some part of the innovation/business-sphere. That being the case, you most probably are connected with an organization that has an online presence of some sort, and how you present yourself, the trademarks you use or possibly misuse – all of this matters. In a continuation of his series on the subject of trademark audits, Ivan Lipshitz does a deep dive into the production of an online presence health report, and how this can be so important for your organization during the years ahead.
One such organization that is both innovative and forward-looking, is AION Labs, a pioneering Venture Studio established by leading global pharmaceutical companies, technology experts, and investors. Their mission is to develop and implement AI technologies that will revolutionize drug discovery and development, ultimately enhancing human health. Avraham Hermon sat down with the CEO Mati Gill, to learn more.
In my article about planning for the INTA annual meeting, this year taking place in San Diego, I discuss the opportunities it provides and how to make the meeting both successful and enjoyable.
Last but not least, as an Israeli, it would be remiss of me not to mention Shiri, Ariel and Kfir Bibas, the mother and her children who, at the time of writing these words, are being laid to rest. May their memory inspire us to spread light, good and life.

As is well known to all trademark aficionados, the 2025 annual meeting of the International Trademark Association is just around the corner. As an attendee for 28 years, I have developed some insights which are always useful when preparing for this massive event which is essentially a 5 day microcosm of the IP universe. As with any investment of time and money, what results will represent the biggest return on investment, and how do I measure that return, if at all? And if there is no direct yardstick, how do I nonetheless plan for a successful conference?
THE OPPORTUNITY
There are different aspects to the INTA annual meeting. I have been heard to describe it as an opportunity to spend quality time with 11,000 of my closest friends from around the world.
But how do you successfully network with thousands of people?
How do you plan?
What is the value proposition presented by the INTA meeting?
What’s the secret sauce?
How can you do it all?
Interested to hear my answers to the above questions?

Trademarks and domain names are important assets for all businesses. They are the face of your company to the world at large. They represent your brand's identity and presence, and distinguish your products and services from others. As a trademark owner you need to be aware of what trademarks your business owns, how your trademarks are being used, and understand the value and benefit to your business of your trademark portfolio. You need to know what risks, challenges and threats there are to such marks, and whether you have the appropriate measures in place to secure your trademark rights so that they are valid and enforceable. The same goes for your online presence.
This means that you and your business, whether large or small, need to take the time to periodically assess & review your portfolio of trademarks and domain names, and identify the risks, challenges and threats, and key opportunities associated therewith so that they can add value to your overall IP strategy and positively contribute to your business` growth and development.
A trademark and domain name audit (herein “Audit”) is a “snapshot” review, assessment and analysis of a brand owner's current portfolio of trademarks and domain names at a given point in time to ensure that the brand owner's trademark usage, trademark holdings and online presence are adequate, sufficient, comprehensive, and accurate for your business goals and needs.
Your Audit should include the following steps:
